IBU World Cup 7.5 km Sprint Competition sees Sydney Peterson win Bronze

January 22, 2026 - Jakuszyce, Poland, Sydney Peterson won a Bronze medal in the 7.5 kilometer race with a time of 23:15, 18 seconds behind the winner from Canada and 3.8 seconds 2nd place Ukraine. The Bronze medal was the first IBU World Cup medal of Sydney’s career. The Lake Elmo, Minnesota native made her first appearance on the IBU Para World Cup circuit this season after missing time due to an injury sustained in Canmore, AB while training ahead of competition on the IBU and FIS World Cup circuits in December. Sydney did not take part in the IBU World Cup event at Notschrei, Germany preparing for her first FIS Para Nordic Cross Country event of the season in Finsterau where she won Gold, Silver & Bronze.

The IBU Para World Cup event continues on Saturday and Sunday before the athletes remain in Jakuszyce and the event transitions to a FIS Para Cross Country World Cup to continue to earn points on the road to Milano Cortina 2026 for the U.S. Para Nordic Team.
