Sydney Peterson wins Silver at FIS Para Cross Country in 1km Sprint in Poland

January 28, 2026 - Jakuszyce, Poland. In the field of 13 athletes from Sweden, France, Germany, Ukraine, Norway and the United States, the Sprint race took place as 2 heats that would start with a split field competing in a semi-final and then the top 6 would compete in a final. After the first heat, 3 Ukrainian athletes advances alongside 2 Americans and 1 Norwegian.

The Top 3, finished with Norway on top, Sydney Peterson finishing 2nd for SILVER and Ukraine finishing 3rd. Sydney’s time was 3:21.37.

Sydney races as a LW9 which means that for her Sport Class she is at 89%. The winner from Norway was a 96% class and 3rd place Ukraine was also a 96% class. Sport Classes has to do with the way that PARA SPORTS keeps the playing fields level due to the adaptive issues that the athlete has as designated by the IPC and Para Snow Sports.

Sydney skipped the 2nd Para Nordic World Cup race in Poland and will compete in the final 2 races over the weekend January 31 and February 1, 2026. The season will then pause for a month and the next competition will be the Winter Paralympic Games in Milano Cortina.
