Gia Pergolini brings home Bronze at 2026 Para Pan Pacific Championships
August 31, 2026 — Mt San Antonio College — Walnut, CA
On the ROAD TO #LA28 was the quad annual PARA PAN PACIFIC CHAMPIONSHIP held at a stunning aquatic setting on the campus of @MtSAC @mtsacaquatics that saw international competition from Pacific Rim, Australia / New Zealand, North American and some Caribbean nations compete.
Client @gia.pergolini was in action while her signature 50m Back was not on the docket at this meet as not enough S13 athletes were at this competition.
On the road to LA 28, you compete in as many international events as you can to stay ready and compete for the red, white and blue.
Gia took part in a side project with Getty Images that we will all get to see in 2027. Thanks to staff photographer Ezra Shaw for coming out to Mt Sac for the weekend.
Gia earned a Bronze medal in the 100m backstroke finishing just 1 point (Paralympic scoring) from Silver in the competition that featured athletes in multiple disciplines swimming in the same race. When you watch the race you will see that she beat the field.
This is not the same system that is in place at the PARALYMPIC SUMMER GAMES that will take place in 2 years at LA 2028.
Gia Pergolini won the event as you will see but the event itself had multiple athletes in different disciplines, listen to the announcer to explain how scoring worked at this event.
