Laura Fortino - an Olympic dream to remember for Team Italia
Laura Fortino was born in Canada. Her family, all were immigrants from Italy. She had the honor of a lifetime being able to play for Canada at 2 Winter Olympic Games where she won Olympic Gold and Silver at Sochi 2014 & PyeongChang 2018. After 2019, she stopped playing with Canada and began to have a dream. How could, can I honor my family and possibly play for Italy at Milano Cortina 2026. And also to wear #77 to honor her favorite defender she watched as a kid. She was able to do both at Milano Cortina 2026 where she also was an Alternate Captain for the team.
Laura had a DREAM event for Italy as they not only won 2 games, they qualified for the QUARTERFINAL and provide a women’s hockey legacy for the nation.
While they fell to the United States in this match, the fire is now alive for Italian girls to dream to be them in the future.
