Sydney Peterson wins her 1st FIS Para Cross Country Gold medal of her career
Sydney Peterson from the U.S. Para Cross Country team won her first World Cup gold medal in the 10km Interval Start nordic cross country race in Finsterau, Bayern, Germany on January 14, 2026.
In a field of 16 skiers from China, Norway, Germany, Ukraine, Sweden, Canada, Russia, Japan, Belarus, Switzerland and France, Sydney’ sport class (meaning that she has to start her race from a deficit based upon her graded disability by the IPC for her SPORT CLASS is 89% she has to let those with full disability to get an 11% head start), With this she still beat 2nd place China by 50.9 seconds and Norway by 2:49.9 minutes.
Sydney resumes the World Cup in Finsterau, Germany on January 15, 2026 in another 10km race.
