Sydney Peterson wins Silver in the 2nd FIS Para Cross Country World Cup event in Finsterau, Germany
January 15, 2026, Sydney Peterson earned a Silver medal in the 10km Para Mass Start Free event in Finsterau, Bayern, Germany.
The field of competition hailed from China, Norway, Ukraine, Sweden, the United States, Canada, Russia, Japan, France and Switzerland and had 19 competitors. 17 finished the race.
Sydney finished 25.2 seconds behind China while beating Norway’s competitor by just under 26 seconds and an impressive more than 90 seconds faster than 4th place Ukraine.
The FIS Para Cross Country World Cup resumes on Saturday January 17th with a sprint race and on Sunday January 18th with a team mixed relay race before the World Cup continues onward in Poland for both Biathlon and Cross Country.
These events serve as qualifiers in the road to qualification for the 2026 Winter Paralympic Games in Milano Cortina, Italy.
