Sydney Peterson wins 2nd FIS Para-Cross Country World Cup of her career in Jakuszyce, Poland
January 31, 2026 - Jakuszyce, Poland. In the field of 10 athletes (2 additional athletes from Sweden scratched the race) from Slovenia, France, Ukraine, Sweden, Germany, Norway and United States in the Women’s 10km Interval Start Standing Classic at the Szklarska Poreba course, Sydney Peterson won the 2nd FIS Para-Cross Country World Cup of her career over the 2025-26 FIS Para-Cross Country World Cup overall champion (Vilde Nilsen) from Norway by 8.60 seconds and an athlete (Lidumla Liashenko) from the Ukraine by 30 seconds. The fourth place finisher was 2:10.20 behind from the U.S.
Sydney missed the North American leg (4 events in Canmore, AB) of the FIS Para-Cross Country World Cup due to injury which knocked her out of overall World Cup contention for the season, but once she got to Europe she has medaled in EVERY EVENT in which she competed bringing Team USA to the podium 5 times (2 GOLD, 2 SILVER & 1 BRONZE) with one event to go on Sunday, February 1st, the 10km Mass Start Standing Classic.

She will return to her home base of Salt Lake City to continue her training and her education where she is a PhD student at the University of Utah in their Neuroscience department.
Team USA will be announced for the Milano Cortina 2026 Winter Paralympic Games tentatively during the 2026 Winter Olympic Games.
